SOUTH ASIA
Day 1. The Cornelius Network of India (CNI) is a prayer and fellowship organization for retired and serving military; they hope to grow but need leaders for additional chapters.
Lord. give the CNI a vision, energy, guidance and leaders for the future, especially for the new Alpha for Forces team.
Day 2. Being a Christian in the armed forces of Pakistan or Bangladesh is difficult, most are reluctant to show their faith and many are secret believers. In both countries there are a few who meet together as an MCF.
Lord we pray for the Christians in the armed forces of Pakistan and Bangladesh and for their developing MCFs. Grant them wisdom, encouragement, spiritual growth and protection.
Day 3. The young Nepal MCF seeks to grow rapidly. A new group in the far east of the country could be a beacon for the area. There is a sense of a window of opportunity with much work to be done before it closes.
Lord, Thank you that your Holy Spirit is empowering the church in Nepal. Give the MCF wisdom and support as it grows. Grant great encouragement through the sewing ministry to the Nepalese army widows.
Day 4. Sri Lanka has established, active MCFs but few Navy participants.
Lord, may the MCF become a tri-service fellowship. Give the leaders wisdom and grace to work together for your Glory – especially on the Alpha for Forces initiative.
Day 5. The Christians of the Indonesian armed forces have suffered persecution and trauma. Nearly all have seen relatives killed and live in fear of their faith becoming known. The MCF continues to help the families of servicemen and women lost in the Tsunami.
Lord give the MCF leadership wisdom and guidance in establishing a structure for prayer and fellowship. Through the power of your Holy Spirit heal the trauma and hurt of persecution and the tsunami.
Day 6. It would help to bring the military Christians of the region together in fellowship and prayer but how and where?
Father, give us wisdom and practical ideas for bringing together military Christians from South Asia so they can encourage each other in their faith.
Day 7: It is very difficult to be an active Christian in the armed forces in many South Asia countries.
Father, strengthen all those who know you as Lord.
“The weapons we fight with are not weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds” 2 Cor. 10:4
EUROPE
Day 8. In some Eastern European countries Christianity is a minority religion and Christians in the armed forces are in a difficult position. Many suffer persecution or have to hide their faith.
Lord, strengthen their faith and make their actions wise. Guide us in ways to support them.
Day 9. We offer annual activity retreats (skiing, sailing) for young military Christians from all countries as well as Bible teaching events in some military academies.
Lord, we pray for good teaching and fellowship which will strengthen the faith of young military Christians and lead others to Christ and we pray these events will continue.
Day 10. In developed Western European countries military Christians face the challenges of apathy, secularism and pluralism, and need guidance in how to handle situations.
Lord, we pray for revival in the armed forces of Western Europe and that military leaders will continue to value and apply Christian principles.
Day 11. Military chaplaincies provide ethical teaching as well as spiritual guidance and support to armed forces. Existing chaplaincies need strengthening and in many East European countries they need to be established.
Lord, guide the chaplains in the armed forces. Where there is no chaplaincy open the way, and guide those trying to establish them. Protect established chaplaincies from disbandment.
Day 12. Some countries in Europe have a very small number of Christians in their armed forces and we have no contact with them.
Lord, give isolated Christians support for their faith and guide us in how to open the door for fellowship.
Day 13. The Accts MMI team in Europe travels widely to encourage and support military Christians with teaching seminars, marriage seminars and ministry to those who face difficulties.
Lord guide, protect and inspire them as they travel to spread the light and healing of Christ in the armed forces.
Day 14. In some parts of Europe there can be tension between different Christian traditions and MCFs.
Lord we pray for good and fruitful relationships between Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant traditions and members of MCFs.
AFRICA
Day 15. In Sept 2008 the MCF of Kenya will host a Pan-African conference for Christians in the armed forces of Africa.
Lord, Thank you for the vision of the MCF. Let your will for speakers, delegates and resources be discerned. May the impact on delegates change lives and so change nations.
Day 16. Accts MMI supports the chaplaincies of African armed forces with training, materials and advice.
Lord, we pray for the chaplains and MCFs of these countries. Direct Accts MMI work in helping to strengthen and build military Christian organizations.
Day 17. In many Francophone African countries the military have great political power. Christians can be a small minority in society and isolated in the armed forces.
Lord, strengthen the faith of those African military Christians who feel isolated or afraid. Please continue to change lives for Christ.
Day 18. Many African countries are struggling with war, the threat of war or recovering from conflict and trauma. The influence of Christians in these armed forces can help in establishing stability and confidence.
Dear God, strengthen the chaplains of these countries and enable them to speak your word boldly. We pray for chaplaincy work amongst members of the armed forces and their families.
Day 19. Most armed forces in Africa are not highly respected and many are feared. There is a need to instill Christian ethics and understanding in the leadership and amongst ordinary soldiers.
May the Christians be such an example of God’s justice that military leaders want to know Jesus. May the knowledge of Christ within the armed forces give them greater trust and a higher standing within their nations.
Day 20. Several countries lack the chaplaincy to provide pastoral and moral support to their service personnel. We work with national leaders and churches to help establish chaplaincies.
Lord, send your Holy Spirit and fill those concerned with a sense of urgency for this work and guide Accts MMI in handling these sensitive situations.
Day 21. We gain much from the dynamic spirituality of our African brothers and sisters in Christ.
We praise God for the African people with whom we work and for the ‘mission highway’ that allows two way traffic. Develop them to grow the military ministry work in Africa.
MIDDLE EAST
Day 22. It is encouraging to see the way in which believers in the armed forces stand up for their faith despite the real threat of the persecution they may face.
We give you praise for the strong faith and commitment shown by many believers in the fledgling MCFs of countries in the Middle East.
Day 23. In many countries of the Middle East the official establishment of an MCF is not permitted and wisdom is needed to enable the fellowship to meet and develop without attracting the direct opposition of Islamic authorities.
Lord, give wisdom, sensitivity and courage to those leading embryonic MCFs as they seek to establish and develop the ministry within their country.
Day 24. Contact with believers in the military is a particularly sensitive issue in this region.
Father God, protect believers serving and working with those in the military in their country. We pray especially for the Association of Military Christian Fellowship (AMCF) Vice President Middle East based in Jordan.
Day 25. Active contact has only been established in some countries of the region and Accts MMI needs the Lord's guidance to open doors into new countries of the Middle East.
Lord, we pray for divine appointments which will open the doors to the closed countries and military believers in the Middle East.
HOME BASE
Day 26. Accts MMI is changing, growing and developing.
Lord, help the Accts MMI leadership team to be sensitive to your guidance as they develop the work and organization. Give them vision and unity.
Day 26. Prayer is the foundation of everything we do in Accts MMI. As the work grows so does the need for a larger prayer base.
May our ministry to the armed forces become more widely known so that the resources of people, prayer, and finance will be released for Changing lives - Changing nations.
Day 28. Accts MMI is part of a growing family around the world with a shared vision.
Father, pour out your blessing and protection on all those involved with the work of Accts MMI, ACCTS USA, the Mission Support Organization of Korea and their families.
